Protests erupt outside Kasba Police station as 3 arrested in alleged Kolkata college gang rape
The Border Security Force (BSF) successfully foiled an infiltration attempt along the India-Pakistan International Border in Punjab's Pathankot region, neutralising an intruder early Wednesday morning. The incident took place at the Border Outpost (BOP) Tashpatan, where BSF troops detected suspicious movement near the border and took immediate action.
According to BSF officials, the intruder was observed crossing the IB at pre-dawn hours. The troops immediately challenged him, but he refused to stop and continued advancing. Given the potential threat posed by the individual, the BSF was left with no choice but to neutralise him. The identity and motive of the intruder are currently being investigated.
The BSF has stated that a strong protest will be lodged with Pakistan Rangers, holding them accountable for the attempted infiltration. The Indian border forces have consistently maintained high vigilance to prevent any security breach along the highly sensitive border region. Officials reiterated that no infiltration attempts would be tolerated, and appropriate action would always be taken against such threats.
This incident follows a series of security operations conducted by the BSF to curb illegal cross-border activities. On February 23, BSF troops, acting on specific intelligence inputs, intercepted and apprehended multiple individuals attempting to cross the border illegally. The operations were conducted across different border regions, including Meghalaya.
During these operations, four Bangladeshi nationals were caught while attempting to enter India illegally from the West Jaintia Hills district. In a separate operation in South Garo Hills, two more Bangladeshi nationals were intercepted and apprehended by the BSF. These actions are part of the force’s broader efforts to prevent illegal infiltration and other trans-border crimes.
The BSF remains on high alert along the India-Pakistan border, with intensified patrolling and surveillance measures. Officials have assured that they will continue to strengthen border security and thwart any potential threats to national security.
